Issue 410 - The Great Global Warming Swindle - Or Is It?

I am in the process of moving autoresponders, so to continue receiving the newsletter in your inbox, please send a blank email to: thegreatgordino@getresponse.com

Hi,
I hope Monday finds you well.

I saw a tv programme last week, which tied in to another programme I had seen, and both tie in nicely with a vital theory I use for self improvement and goal achievement.

The programme last week was 'Dragon's Den.'

I've mentioned it before, it's where businesses make a pitch for investment to 5 mutli-millionaires
Last week there was a first, as all 5 investors decided to invest.
The invention was a product which cut down the amount of power used when electrical equipment is left on 'standby.'
The inventors have a patent pending, and the millionaires were hooked by the thought of embedding the device in new televisions.

When the inventor stated how the reduction would help reduce global warming due to CO2 emissions, all the millionaires nodded in agreement.
After all, we all know that's true, right?

Cue the tie in with the other programme, called 'The Great Global Warming Swindle.'
This was a documentary which left me gawping at the screen.

The basic premise was that global warming due to man-made CO2 has been blown out of all proportions, and since it's now an industry worth billions and billions, the myth will be perpetuated.

The film had scientists, who said that the theory that CO2 was a temperature driver was simply not true, in fact the global temperature drives the amount CO2.
The percentage of CO2 made by man is tiny compared to that made by animals, decaying leaves and the biggest producer on the planet, the oceans.

Differing levels of solar activity mean different levels of solar wind reaching the atmosphere.
Differing levels of solar wind mean differeing levels of cloud over the oceans.
Differing levels of clouds means different ocean temperatures, and differing levels of ocean temperatures
mean different global temperatures and CO2 produced by the oceans.

The film argued that this has been going on for hundreds of years.
If the evidence is not there to support the man-made CO2 fears, in fact if the evidence shows otherwise, then why is the myth kept going?

Money.

I don't know about you, but this theory struck me as something worth investigating, so I hopped online to do some research.

Here's where it gets interesting.
I had not heard of the film maker, Martin Durkin, but I soon found that he has a 'colourful' reputation.
He has had programmes turned down because he is said to have ignored huge amounts of counter arguments.
One of his films was criticised by the Independent Television Commission, stating that he had misled the interviewees about the purpose of the programme, and had creatively and selectively edited their interviews.

That was a huge disappointment to me, as it casts a shadow immediately over his global warming programme.

However, and this is the point I want to make, does the fact that he has a doubtful reputation mean that his claims are necessarily false?

No, it doesn't.

What it does mean, is that there is a need for independent thought.
Just because someone tells you something is so, there is nothing wrong in questioning it, asking why they say it, and doing your own research.
Yes, use other views to make your own opinion, but make sure that's what you end up with, your own opinion, and when someone asks you why you think it, be able to tell them, and not just say 'because someone else said so.'

The programme has been big news since it was shown, and I'll be interested to see what happens.

Ok, that's it for today, what's your independent thought on CO2, or what's your independent thought on whether you can achieve your goals - if someone tells you that you can't, does that necessarily make them right?

'Til next time,
Health and Happiness,
Gordon

Issue 409 - Gordon's First Ever Sporting Victory!

I am in the process of moving autoresponders, so to continue receiving the newsletter in your inbox, please send a blank email to: thegreatgordino@getresponse.com

Hi,
I hope everything is ok where you are.

I had today's issue planned out, but my weekend made for a tale worth telling, so I've put a link to the other article at the bottom if you want to read that before I use it.

My weekend didn't start too well.
I was all looking forward to a 2 day curling tournament, my first proper competition seeing as I had to pull out of the last one with a migraine.

I got about 10 miles down the road, and a tyre decided to disintegrate on my car.
I was driving along at 60 when I heard a loud 'JUDDER JUDDER, THWACK!'
I looked in the rearview mirror to see lots of small black bits in my wake.

Now I'm not a car person, and my usual instinct is to just ignore any unusual noise and hope it will go away, but even I knew that I should stop.
I got out and saw the tyre in a state that could best be described as 'buggered.'
I wondered if the curling fates were against me as I cursed to myself.

I had no choice but to call the breakdown service.
Fortunately they are top notch, and arrived 15 minutes after I called.
Another 15 minutes, and I was back on my way!
That is seriously impressive service, and worth every penny I pay for it.

So, I got to the curling in time, to start the tournament with 3 players I had either only played with once, not at all, or never even met.

You may remember a couple of weeks ago I wrote about 'A Great Pair Of Tips!' saying how you can make huge leaps forward by just concentrating on a couple of simple effective basic skills in any walk of life, and that the same had applied to my curling.

Well I was able to use those tips again, and by the end of day 1 we were in a good position.
Yesterday I was actually entertaining thoughts of winning, and took a massively positive attitude.

It was a hugely competitive day of 2 matches which went back and forth in momentum the whole time, ending in 2 draws.
At the end of the competition, my team had won!
I was amazed!

I'm not sure I've ever won anything at sport, and this is a proper competition!
There is a lovely curling trophy dating back 50 years, and has the winner's names engraved on it, so whatever else I achieve in curling, I am recorded for posterity!

Wow, what a thrill!
And in a sport which is so polite, winners and losers having a laugh and a drink afterwards.
I'm basking in a warm glow today.

It's not a smug glow, I'm realistic to know that my playing was good enough to simply give the rest of the team something to work with, but I still played a worthy part.

No, my glow is an achievement glow.
In my first full season, I had decided to learn and improve.
I took the steps required, and put in the effort.
Now, near enough a calendar year after I started curling, I have a permanent achievement which can't be taken away.

In any walk of my life or yours, that will give you a glowing feeling that is unrivalled, I assure you.

In fact, someone asked me yesterday 'Is winning better than sex?
I replied that I couldn't remember.
They said 'You only won 10 minutes ago!'
I said 'I know, but that's not what I'm having trouble remembering...'

Here's another thing - you may or not believe in universal abundance, things coming around that go around, but this week, myself and another of my weekend team mates launched a forum for English curling - something we decided to do just to help the game and people interested in it.
Maybe our victory was curling karma??

Ok, that's it for today - here's the link to the other article -
'Frankly My Dear I Don't Give...Hey, Can You Smell Burning?
http://ezinearticles.com/?Frankly-My-Dear-I-Dont-Give...-Hey,-Can-You-Smell-Burning?&id=489751

See you next week - do you have a warm glow ahead of you from following simple tips?

'Til next time,
Health and Happiness,
Gordon

Issue 408 - Eeow! I'm A Good Girl I Am!

Hi,
I hope Monday finds you well.

I was all set for this week's issue, calling it 'Eeow! I'm A Good Girl I am!' and then I saw a great documentary last week called 'The Great Global Warming Swindle'.

Throw in an article I wrote called 'What's The Difference Between 3 Miles And 26 Miles?' and I have 3 different subjects to talk about -
- The problems that are out of your hands on your road to achievement.
- The importance of independent thought.
- The enormous power of your mindset.

I know I could talk about all 3, but I like to keep the newsletter at the same bite-sizish length, so let me just have a quick go at eeny meeny miny mo...

Ok, decision made, (after a best of 5 tournament) -
*******************************************
Eeow! I'm A Good Girl, I Am!'
When I wrote my article 'Move Your Bloomin' Arse!' about the goal achievement nuggets to be found in the film 'My Fair Lady', I had some emails saying they wanted more.
This time, although the title is another phrase uttered by the character Eliza Doolittle, (in a dubious cockney accent it must be said), I want to concentrate on the goal achievement points behind the starring of the actress who played her, Audrey Hepburn.

When the film was first mooted, it was widely thought that the Briton Julie Andrews would play Eliza.
She had played the role in the theatre to rave reviews alongside Rex Harrison, so it was assumed she would be in the film with Harrison too.

Jack Warner from Warner Bros. wanted a bigger box office name, and would not budge from Hepburn.
Can you imagine how it must have felt when early in recording it became clear that Hepburn would not be able to cope with the vocals, and they had to be overdubbed by someone else!
D'oh!

It was Marni Nixon who did the singing, uncredited, something which was not unusual in Hollywood then.

The casting controversy reflected badly on Hepburn, although it was undoubtedly out of her hands.
In fact, the decision to not cast Andrews was taken before Hepburn was cast.

Although the film won 8 Oscars, including best picture and best actor, poor old Audrey wasn't even nominated!

That kind of thing always tarnishes the Oscars for me.
How is it that the film can be so showered with awards, and yet the leading lady was so bad so as not even to get mentioned?
Just a touch political, perhaps, maybe!!

Audrey Hepburn was definitely one of life's goal achievers, helping the underground resistance in Holland during the war, making herself one of the biggest stars in Hollywood, and working as a Unicef goodwill ambassador in later life.

Did she have trouble and strife along the way?
Yes!
Did she still carry on?
Yes, of course she did.

Sometimes things are out of our control, like the whole My Fair Lady casting, but you need to stick with your goal and plough on through.

So, next time you hit a bump on the road to your goals, think of Audrey Hepburn shouting 'Eeow, I'm a good girl, I am', although if you're a man, maybe do it under your breath.

Hmm, thinking about it, maybe do it under your breath if you're a woman too!

Ok, that's it for today - can you speak cockney like Audrey Hepburn?

'Til next time,
Health and Happiness,
Gordon

Issue 407 - Make Money From Tiddlywinks?

Hi,
I hope everything is ok where you are.

This weekend saw the European Indoor Athletics Championships.
They were held in England, so I was looking forward to writing about a victory for my old buddy, the pole vaulter Yelena Isinbayeva.

Unfortunately I am unable to do so, for 2 reasons.
Firstly, because she wasn't there.
The official reason is that she is concentrating on preparing for the outdoor season, but unofficially everyone says it's because there was no prize money.
Secondly, I'm not allowed to refer to her as 'my old buddy' any more, well not since the restraining order became official...

In case you're interested, the Russians still won gold and silver, the silver going to a new 20 yr old called Yulia Golubchikova - I bet you don't get many of those to the pound, (er, apart from maybe in the Golubchikov household.)

There was also a nasty injury for a British runner, who was clipped from behind, and in the fall broke her thigh bone.
Now that's gotta hurt.

So, the point of today's issue is making money in the world of sport.
In most sports, it's only the very top world elite that make any decent money, and they have to chase it ( hence Isinbayeva not competing this weekend?)

Even then, there often isn't enough.
My new found sport of curling is a prime example - very difficult to make money at it.

The Italian skiing federation is in dire financial trouble, 1 year on from hosting the Olympics, and skiiers and trainer are having to club together to pay for petrol and hotel costs!

At the other end are the big earners - its been announced that the women will earn the same as the men at Wimbledon this year, and the British heavyweight Lennox Lewis, one of those rare boxers who retired with his title intact, is allegedly being tempted to fight again by the prospect of earning $25 million from one fight!

My new book is about how to make money from sport, I just finished it last week.

It works for players and for fans of any sport.
Athletics? Yes.
Tennis? Yes.
Skiing? Yes.
Boxing? Yes.
Curling? Yes.
Tiddlywinks? Yes, actually.

How much the method earns depends on how much effort is put in.
It may not earn you the $25 million that Lennox Lewis is up for, but say in curling, it will earn you more than you ever could by playing, and even if it earns enough to cover a lifetime of curling shoes, that's better than a kick in the teeth.

The guide only costs $7, priced so low that you don't have to think that much about buying it.
Most people spend $7 on things day after day, and this *will* earn you money if you follow the technique.
It's the technique I use, there are no extra costs involved, no Adwords pay per click spending, and you can grab it at: http://www.gordonbryan.com/sport

I know today's issue has been a sporty one, and I know that some readers have no interest at all in sport, but since all readers should have an interest in self-improvement and wealth creation, I reckon for $7 it's worth me rattling on about it, and it ties in with last week's issue about setting March 1st New Year Resolutions.

Ok, that's it for today - how much money will you make this year from sport?

'Til next time,
Health and Happiness,
Gordon

Issue 406 - Quick It's March 1st - Set Your New Year Resolutions!

I am in the process of moving autoresponders, so to continue receiving the newsletter in your inbox, please send a blank email to: thegreatgordino@getresponse.com

Hi,
I hope Monday finds you well.

Quick marathon update.
8 weeks to go 'til the 'race', and yesterday I did 15 miles in 3 hours 1 minute.
That's staying with my target time.
I had remembered my padded shorts, so the old area of chafing was trouble free.
Unfortunately when I got home I noticed chafing in a new, and quite frankly disturbing area.

Let's just say I won't be rushing out to book any horse riding lessons, are you with me?
Although I might invest in one of those blow up cushions that look like a ring doughnut, do you follow?

Ouch.

You may remember (although I accept the possibility that you don't), that last week I said I might be writing today about how to seduce women with your thumbs.
Well at the mo I have loads of subjects to write about, they are stacking up a bit, so that issue will be shunted back.

I also want to talk about the Hubble space telescope, how close the whole project came to collapse.
I also want to talk about money in sport, specifically a new book I've written, the boxer Lennox Lewis, womens' tennis, and Italian skiing.

So, with all that upcoming, today's issue is called 'Quick! It's March 1st, Set Your New Year Resolutions!

Every New Year the old chesnut of New Year resolutions comes up.
It seems that every newsletter online focuses on the subject - why to set them, why not to set them, how to set them, er, how not to set them, blah blah, yada yada.
Then a week later, those same newsletters go back to the focus of 'buy my latest product.'

I make my view known around the same time, don't get me wrong, but since the whole point of this newsletter is goal achievement and self improvement, I reckon I'm allowed to.
I tend to say that a joking 'intending to fail' resolution is bad news, as it tells your subconscious mind all the wrong messages.

So here we are, with March 1st looming this week.
If you made any resolutions at all in the New Year, how well are they going?
Has anything changed between then and now, or are things exactly the same as they were.
If they're the same, is that what you want?
If that isn't what you want, what will you do about it the next 2 months that you *didn't* do in the last 2 months?

Basically what I'm saying, is that March 1st is a great time to set your yearly goals.
You don't get caught up in all the New Year nonsense.
You have had a chance to assess how the year has gone, and how it will carry on if you let it.
It's a much better date to decide by yourself, for yourself, what you want for the upcoming 12 months.

Then you can look back on March 1st 2008 and do another check.
When people ask you about your resolutions on Jan 1st 2008, you can tell them about your March 1st goals.
If they know anything about goal achievement, they'll smile and acknowledge your plan.
If they know nothing about goal achievement, they'll laugh at your 'silly idea.'

You'll be the one laughing loudest though, when you see how setting March 1st resolutions makes much more powerful changes in your life.

I hope you can see the logic here, I welcome your feedback as ever, and if you don't think the idea's any good, let me know what you've done goal achievement wise in the last 2 months.

Before I sign off, I must give a mention to Martin Avis' newsletter.
A fellow Brit, he has the same sense of humour as me, I always get a smile and a lift from reading his Kickstart Newsletter.
This week he features a 10,000 foot skydive from a sufferer of motor neuron disease- very inspirational.
It's well worth a read, and it's well worth signing up to:
http://www.kickstartarchive.com

Ok, that's it for today, don't forget to make your March 1st Resolutions on Thursday!

'Til next time,
Health and Happiness,
Gordon

Issue 405 - A Great Pair of Tips!

I am in the process of moving autoresponders, so to continue receiving the newsletter in your inbox, please send a blank email to: thegreatgordino@getresponse.com

Hi,
I hope everything is well where you are.

Did you get loads of Valentine's Day cards?
I had oiled the letterbox with WD40, got in emergency supplies in case my pile of cards was so big that I couldn't get to the door, and waited....

I'm still waiting, and letterbox was so untroubled I could hear the tumbleweed rolling past.
It's bloody saying something when the card I sent to myself didn't even turn up!
I won't be wasting £1.50 like that again in a while (about a year probably).

Last week this newsletter had its' 4th anniversary, and I wrote how I used my weekly activities to relate my self improvement ideas.
4 years ago I certainly wasn't writing about curling, but it's slap in the middle of my thoughts at the moment, so here we go...

I'm calling this week's issue 'A Great Pair Of Tips'.
I went for a training session last week, and was a bit concerned.
I knew I had developed bad habits in my delivery, and was not sure well I would be able to unlearn them.

The session was taken by a girl who has been playing for over 20 years.
She's Canadian, where curling is massive.
She asked me what I wanted out of the session, and after I'd told her she asked me to deliver some stones so she could she my action.

After my first go she said 'I can see what you're doing wrong,' and gave me advice.
I tried to do what she said, and the next throw was about a gazillion times better!
She then gave the whole group some general tips, one of which I knew would be relevant to me.
All that took about 20 minutes.

I could not believe just 20 minutes and 2 tips would make such a difference!
Actually I'm lying, I could believe it.

I remember a drummer gave me 2 tips once which made a huge difference.
So it doesn't surprise me, but it gives me a boost and a smile whenever I personally experience it myself.

It doesn't take a seminar, or an essay, or a textbook.
Just a couple of tips from an outsider with greater knowledge.
2 tips at a time is enough to work on without overcomplicating things.
It's hugely powerful stuff.

I talk about it in my book, 'Transform Your Life in 21Days!', and if you want simple effective tips on how to change your circumstances, it really is worth a read to see how I did it myself.
http://www.transformyourlifenow.com

Over the weekend I played in a curling tournament, and won my first prize!
Ok, it was the booby prize for coming last, but I was able to use my new technique, and boy did I see a difference!

I was also able to play with people who have represented England in Europe, so was soaking up the experience they had to show - fantastic, just the kind of knowledge sharing I always waffle on about!

Ok, that's it for today - is there a situation in your life which could be improved by a great pair of tips?

I'll see you next time when, depending on what happens during my week, I'm aiming to talk about how to seduce women with your thumbs!

'Til next time,
Health and Happiness,
Gordon

Issue 404 - 4th Birthday for The Great Gordino Newsletter!

I am in the process of moving autoresponders, so to continue receiving the newsletter in your inbox, please send a blank email to: thegreatgordino@getresponse.com

Hi,
I hope Monday finds you well.

This newsletter is 4 years old this week.
Regular readers will know that on every 50th issue I like to print a piece called 'The Desiderata', one of the rare times I use someone else's writing.
Since I hit issue 400 only a few weeks ago, I'm not going to use it again this week, so it's just plain old me again!

What I will do is re-iterate my basic philosophy.
When issue number 1 of The Great Gordino Newsletter slipped online in February 2003, the idea was to use current events, both in my life and the world around me, to illustrate my ideas.
I chose the 3 main areas of focus as goal achievement, self improvement, and wealth creation.

The ideas I believed then are the same as they are now which in an nutshell are -
Self improvement is a choice, You either choose to do it or you choose not to.
If you choose to do it, you then get your attitudes right, including taking responsibility for your actions and the consequences.
Then you follow tried and tested goal achievement theories.
There are lots of them about, they are not hard to find. As you progress, you'll find the way which works for you.
When you then back all this up with taking action, you can achieve amazing things you hadn't thought possible.

If you are after creation of financial wealth, that's certainly possible with the internet, even more so today than in 2003, but it's vital not to forget the wealth of abundance we already have around us.

If you can read this on your computer, you are in the smallest percentage of people on the planet.
You and I can say pretty much anything we want, maybe against our government if we choose, and we are at liberty to do so.
We can look around and enjoy the nature around us without fear of an armed rebel coming at us with a rifle or machete.
We can get a drink of clean water, we can go and get some chocolate from the well stocked cupboard (very well stocked in my case).

Let's appreciate what we have.

Some people say I spend too long wearing slap-happy-clappy rose tinted glasses.

Hmm..

Well, not everything is perfect.
Lots of things are wrong, some of them badly, and change can be dreadfully slow.
Change is possible though, we can do something about it.

In 2005 I stood for Parliament in my country's election.
I didn't win, but I was able to stand up and take part in the democratic process.

Treat other people as you would be treated yourself - it's an old adage, but it's a good'un.
If you follow it, integrity will usually be at your side.

Just as importantly, let's flip the saying - treat yourself as you would treat others.
Show integrity towards *yourself*.
Do yourself justice.

If you want to do something, if you know you should do something, don't leave it at 'wanting' or 'knowing'
Take it onwards to the doing!

Taking responsibility doesn't mean blaming yourself, it means accepting that consequence follows your actions.
It has done in your past, and it will do in your future, starting with right here and now.

If your year so far is following the same pattern as last year, that's because you are taking the same actions!
If you want a different result, take a different action.

Back in 2003, setting up an internet business could be tricky.
It could take time, and money.
Fast forward to today, and things have changed dramatically!

You can use free options to create a web presence, maybe on myspace, maybe with a free blog.
You can generate free targeted traffic without wasting your money on the garbage schemes which don't work.

You can create your own product again for free, or you can find other products to sell.
With all that going on, if you aren't making money online, where do you think the cause is - the internet, or you?

The ideas which I relate using current events in the newsletter, are explained in full in my book 'Transform Your Life in 21 Days!'
I wrote that in 2003, and am as proud of it now as I was then.
http://www.transformyourlifenow.com

There is no reason on earth why you can't take advantage of the affiliate programme, and earn nearly $20 per sale.

Or, you can start selling information products for just $7.
Information products are great because they can be set up so easily.
If you want to find out about selling information products for $7, here's my site: http://www.gordonbryan.com/7dollarsecrets

You then just need to know how to drive traffic to your site.
You won't be surprised to know I've written a guide to that too!
The method I use can be seen at: http://www.gordonbryan.com/traffic

If you buy the $7 book via my link, I will give you my traffic guide for free.
Or you can get the traffic guide for just $7.
You can then promote both, and keep all the $7 from purchases!

So, that's it for today.

As I crack into the 5th year of the newsletter, thanks for reading.
Without readers there would be no point in writing, and I appreciate your ongoing feedback.
I'm intending to carry on waffling about how you can imrove yourself by choosing to follow goal achievement techniques.
You can create and enjoy wealth in your life, you just need to believe it and act on it, and as I've given you the option of tools in today's newsletter, that's what I'll carry on doing.

Let me know if you think I'm on the right track, and if you enjoy my witterings, please pass it on to any friends who you think will enjoy it too!

'Til next time,
Health and Happiness,
Gordon

Issue 403 - How To Make Money From The Superbowl

I am in the process of moving autoresponders, so to continue receiving the newsletter in your inbox, please send a blank email to: thegreatgordino@getresponse.com

Hi,
I hope everything is ok where you are.
I have had a busy couple of days.

I stayed up to watch the Superbowl last night.
Of course I work for myself from home, so I can set my own hours - I love it!

The Superbowl is America's self proclaimed 'greatest show on earth', although over here in Britain it is a small niche sport at best.
I love it though.

For the last few years, a pay per view channel has been showing the 'Lingerie Bowl' at half time.
Models play a short game of American Football dressed up in lacy lingerie.
Some people have called it a disgrace, others see the funny side, and I made sure that I checked it out again this year, just to remind myself how much of a disgrace it was...

Considering the Superbowl is an all American commercial fest, its surprising that it was a British businessman who came up with a marketing idea of monstrous proportions.

This was the 41st Superbowl, so the idea was to create a celebration of the previous 40, but to make it BIG.
The book weighs over 90 lbs, that's no misprint - 90lbs!
It lists every play of all 40 games, with hundreds of never before seen photos.
There are 20,000 printed, and they sell for $4000 each!

Do a bit of maths and you can see the figures get exciting.
That's not the end of it though - the first 200 copies are hand signed by all the living 'best player of the game', from those 40 Superbowls.
These 200 copies sell for $40,000 each!

Do the maths again, and the size of the potential is clear.
What a fantastic idea, although I don't suppose you'd want to let your little kid have a read with his chocolatey fingers!

You have to admire selling a book for $40,000, especially 200 of them, but is there a way to profit selling books at the other end of the scale?

The answer's yes.

I came across a guide last week which tells how to sell information products for $7 and make a good profit.
I got a copy, and I liked it.

I don't normally recommend other people's books, but this is an exception.
I like the style, short and sweet, and the information is good.

You can also prpmote the book yourself and keep the full $7 price yourself!
The method is explained in the book.

However, I noticed a flaw right away.
There was no mention in the book of how to generate traffic.

It's the lifeblood of any business online, and to miss it out is a shame in my view.
It might leave newcomers unsure as to what to do, and ending up doing nothing.

So, over the weekend, I came up with a solution.
I wrote a guide to the single most effective traffic technique I personally use.
I called it the 'Tireless Traffic Technique.'
I used the exact techniques mentioned in the 7 Dollar Secret book, meaning I charge $7 for it, and anyone can promote it and keep the full $7 themselves.

I've decided to offer the traffic guide free to anyone who buys the 7 Dollar book through my link.
If you buy 7 Dollar Secrets via this link:
http://www.gordonbryan.com/7dollarsecrets
I'll then email you a copy of my traffic technique.
You can then promote both and keep all the $7 sales!

If you've already bought 7 Dollar Secrets, and many people have, can I suggest you still buy my 'Tireless Traffic Technique'.
Once you've read it, you'll see how it compliments the 7 Dollar book, and you'll want to promote it, detail on how to do that are in the guide.
Once again, here's my link to the 7 Dollar book http://www.gordonbryan.com/7dollarsecrets

And here's the link to my Tireless Traffic Technique
http://www.gordonbryan.com/traffic

Buy the 7 Dollar Secrets, and I'll give you my traffic book, but if you already have the 7 Dollar guide, my traffic book is still great value - plus you get my advice at the end of an email!
I had a busy old time getting this together, and I'm pleased with the result.

I still had time for some fun over the weekend, the Lingerie Bowl apart.

I went to a jam, and ended up playing a song on bass that I hadn't played for ages.
I used one of the oldest entertainment tricks in the book. I realised that I had played a few bad notes, so quickly began singing some even worse notes over the top.
It sure took the attention away from my bass playing! Here's a picture:
http://www.gordonbryan.com/fountainfeb07.jpg

Ok, that's it for today - are you ready to jump start your information selling internet business?

'Til next time,
Health and Happiness,
Gordon

Issue 402 - I Can't Commit An Hour A Day!

I am in the process of moving autoresponders, so to receive the newsletter in your inbox, please send a blank email to: thegreatgordino@getresponse.com

Hi,
I hope Monday finds you well.

Marathon update - 12 weeks to race day, although 'race' might be a misnomer since I'm the only bugger running - does that mean I come last or first?
Yesterday I did a half marathon in 2 hours 32, which is nicely on schedule.
Unfortunately I had forgotten to wear my padded cycling shorts, so there was some fearsome chafing going on downstairs I can tell you.
Let's just say I'll be wearing extra baggy joggers for curling this week...

Apart from my long run on Sundays and a day off on Saturday, my training consists of around a half hour a day, which when you account for warming up, and warming down etc. goes over the hour mark.
The one hour a day technique is a great one for goal achievement, and it's the focus of the following article I wrote after someone told me they couldn't commit an hour a day.
I called it 'I Can't Commit An Hour A Day!'

***********************************************************
I Can't Commit An Hour A Day!
***********************************************************
Committing an hour a day to your goal is one of the strongest techniques in goal achievement.
As with most of the steps to achieve any goal, it may sound glaringly obvious that if you spend a minimum of 1 solid hours a day working towards your goal, you will make progress.
In fact, you will make *leaps and bounds* towards your goal which you never would have thought possible, so why do most people not do it?

I was talking to someone about this the other day.
I was talking to her about another article I had written about how astronauts spending 6 months in space have to do 2 hours workout every day just so their body can keep up with the effort our body makes to move in the gravity of earth.
That's 2 hours every day for 6 months, not make progress, but just to keep up!
After making the point to my friend, she came up with a response that I often hear, and it's a perfectly natural one -
'I'm wary of committing, or cannot commit 1 hour every day.'

Here's my answer to that thought...

'You say you can't commit an hour every day, or are wary of making the commitment, but you already *do* commit hour after hour, day after day!'
We all have the same 24 hours in a day, and believe me, you commit plenty of those towards goal ahievement, it's just that you don't know it!

The trick is to do an analysis of what you commit your hours to, what are the goals that you have been inadvertedly working towards?
Once you've done this, you can decide if those goals are ones you want to stick with, or if some of those commited hours can be diverted to your desired goal.

Remember, I'm only suggesting 1 hour a day!
If after an honest assessment of what you send your time on, you still think you cannot give a solid 1 hour daily to your goal, the next step is to ask someone else to do the same analysis with you.
It needs to be someone who will be honest with you about it.

If this still doesn't produce a daily 1 hour slot for your goal, then it is unlikely your goal will come to pass.
This brings in 2 more theories that I have always used, and write about in my book - responsibility and acceptance.

Take responsibility for yourself, your actions, and your time.
If you honestly havn't got this hour to spare, don't blame others.
Don't blame yourself either, but take responsibility about your situation, and be prepared to change if it needed.

Then there is acceptance.
Accept that your goal will not happen, and fully understand the reason why.
Accept that you have decided to not take the necessary steps.
This isn't a bad or negative thing, in fact it's the opposite.
It can lead to a happier life, because you have accepted the circumstance after proper consideration, and have also accepted that ultimately, the possibility for change is in your hands!

**********************************************

Let me know what you think!

Ok, that's it for this week, and here's the thought - where do you commit your hours?

'Til next time,
Health and Happiness,
Gordon

Issue 401 - Ponder Your Percentages

Hi,
I hope everything is ok where you are.

Right then, 3 things today as we crack on into the 400s of this newsletter.

Firstly, I am moving my autoresponder.
I'll gradually be taking people off the current responder and then closing it down, so to keep receiving the newsletter in your email, please send a blank email to:
mailto:thegreatgordino@getresponse.com
You should then get an email which will have a confirmation link.
Of course you can always read the issues on the blog here as usual.

Secondly, I had a good training run yesterday.
The sun was shining, the sky was blue, and birds were chirruping as I did 10 miles in 1 hour 57, nicely on target.
Don't forget that you can donate to your own choice of charity to sponsor me at:
http://www.thegreatgordinomarathon.com
Since I didn't get into the London race, I don't have to raise any sponsorship at all, but it would be nice - even 1 dollar would help!

Thirdly, I've got an article today which I came up with as a tool for helping with goal achievement.
This is a major foundation of this newsletter, that anyone can achieve great things by simply following a formula, and this idea of mine should help.
I called the article 'Ponder Your Percentages', and it's as fitting a way as any to mark the start of the next 100 issues!

************************************************
Ponder Your Percentages

Regular readers will know that goal achievement is a huge passion of mine.
I've used the theories for well over 20 years, and continue to use them to this day.
I wrote about them in my book 'Transform Your Life in 21 Days!' back in 2003, and they are as valid now as they were then.
I'm always trying to think up new ways of framing the same ideas, because sometimes looking at the same idea from a different angle is all someone needs for the light bulb to go on, and extraordinary results to follow.

As I write it's early January 2007, and over the recent holiday period I came up with what I think is a cracker.
It's a simple method which includes several of the essential steps in the goal achievement plan.
Those are goal definition, visualisation, action planning and taking responsibility.
I called the idea 'Ponder Your Percentages'.

We all know that 'per cent' means out of a hundred, and the possibility of any circumstance happening can be measured on this scale.
There are 2 absolutes at either end.
100% means the outcome will definitely happen, no question, unavoidable, inevitable.
Zero% means the outcome will definitely *not* happen, no question, unavoidable, inevitable.

So we can start with those absolutes and turn to your goal...
Ask yourself 'what is the percentage chance of my goal happening?'
It's unlikely to be 100% or zero%.
If you think it is either of those, you probably need to work a bit more on your goal definition, (methods in my book!)
It might make it easier to give yourself an initial choice of 3 spots - is it 25% likely to happen, 75% likely, or 50%?
Once you pick one of those, you can then adjust in your head to get to the figure you are happy with.

You cannot get to this stage without a definition of your goal, visualising it, and having an idea of the difference between where you are now and your target, all good things.
Say you pick a figure of 20%.
This means you think there is a reasonable chance of it happening, but there will be a lot of work involved, a long way to go.
20% may sound low, but any figure is excellent, and here's why...

You can now work out what you can do to increase your estimate to 21%
This brings in the step of planning action.
If you don't know what the next step needs to be, your next step is research - go and find out!

Once you've done that, you can definitely increase to 21%.
You then repeat the process, which brings in the taking action aspect of goal achievement, and taking responsibility.
If you take no action, your percentage chance will not move upwards, and the responsibility for that is yours, no-one elses.

As you move your percentage up, you will find yourself motivated, and you'll gather momentum, with that 100% target getting ever closer!

This is a technique you can apply to *any* goal. It works, and if you use it, you can achieve things which you would have found unbelievable before, so I ask you, right now, to ponder your percentages!

*******************************************
Let me know what you think.

I hope you enjoy it, it's a technique which works, I use it today (in fact there is no reason why I couldn't write a book around it!)

Ok, that's it for today - make sure you ponder your percentages, and I'll see you next week.

Health and Happiness,

Issue 400 - The Desiderata

Hi,
I hope Monday finds you well.

It's the 400th Issue of this newsletter today, more of that later.

I must just quickly tell you how I got on in my first curling competition.
Er, not particularly well in truth.

Towards the end of the first match on Friday evening I could feel the first symptoms of a migraine.
My heart sank as I knew I was looking at 36 hours in bed.
I got to the end of the game, told my team-mates, and set off home.
I got about half way home before the next stage of migraine set in, the vomiting.
What is it with me, sport and vomit?

I then had to drive 15 miles stopping every mile to paint the pavement.
My artistic approach would have to be described as 'scattergun', if you know what I mean.
Mt team mates were reassuringly understanding, and I took no further part in the competition which was frustrating in the extreme, but such is life I guess.
I have written an article about it, which I'll feature in a future issue, but back to today, and it's Issue 400.

I'm also fast approaching 4 years since I started the newsletter, and in the past 399 issues I've waffled and rattled on about the same things - goal achievement, self improvement and wealth creation.
It is amazing how many examples you can see all around, and noting them all for newsletter material has kept me topped up with enjoyment.

I have only used one item not written by me.
I've used it a few times, and I make no apology for it.
I like to feature it every 50 issues, and today is no exception.
Written in 1929, it's a piece of writing chock full of nuggets for a more contented life.
You could take each sentence and absorb it for a week.
Ok, enough from me, here it is:

***************************************
The Desiderata
***************************************
Go placidly amid the noise and the haste, and remember what peace there may be in silence.
As far as possible without surrender be on good terms with all persons. Speak your truth quietly and clearly, and listen to others, even to the dull and the ignorant, they too have their story.

Avoid loud and aggressive persons, they are vexations to the spirit. If you compare yourself with others, you may become vain or bitter, for always there will be greater and lesser persons than yourself.

Enjoy your achievements as well as your plans. Keep interested in your own career, however humble; it is a real possession in the changing fortunes of time. Exercise caution in your business affairs, for the world is full of trickery. But let not this blind you to what virtue there is; many persons strive for high ideals, and everywhere life is full of heroism.

Be yourself. Especially do not feign affection. Neither be cynical about love; for in the face of all aridity and disenchantment it is as perennial as the grass.
Take kindly the counsel of the years, gracefully surrendering the things of youth.

Nurture strength of spirit to shield you in sudden misfortune. But do not distress yourself with dark imaginings. Many fears are born of fatigue and loneliness. Beyond a wholesome discipline, be gentle with yourself. You are a child of the universe, no less than the trees and the stars; you have a right to be here. And whether or not it is clear to you, no doubt the universe is unfolding as it should.
Therefore, be at peace with God, whatever you conceive Him to be. And whatever your labors and aspirations in the noisy confusion of life, keep peace in your soul. With all its sham, drudgery and broken dreams; it is still a beautiful world.
Be cheerful.
Strive to be happy.

--- Max Ehrmann, 1927
***************************************
I hope you enjoy it as much as I do.
As ever, feel free to email me with your opinions, and as we crack into the next century of issues I wish you,
Health and Happiness,
Gordon

Issue 399 - Move Your Bloomin' Arse!

Hi,
I hope everything is ok where you are.
I'm calling today's issue 'Move Your Bloomin Arse.'

Things are ploughing along nicely for me.
My motivation is back for my marathon training.
I wrote in December that it had taken a kick in the knackers when I learnt I hadn't got in the London Marathon, but I followed one of my goal achievement ideas - when your motivation takes a down turn, make sure you don't take any negative actions.
Acknowedge the down turn for what it is, just a blip, and wait for it to come back.
That's what I did, and that's what happened, so I am back pounding the streets.

My curling is also coming along.
I am playing in my first competition this weekend.
There is a cash prize too! I suspect that there will be other teams too good for us, but curling is one of those games where strange results can happen.

Ok, today's main subject - Move Your Bloomin' Arse!

It's a line from a multi Oscar winning film from 1964, do you know which one?
Well it was My Fair Lady, starring Rex Harrison and Audrey Hepburn.
I'd even go so far as to call her the scrumptious Audrey Hepburn. Maybe you might think of Rex Harrison as scrumptious, but I'm sticking with Audrey.
She could round off my vowels anytime, if you know what I mean...

Anyhow, back to the film, and why it's a great model of goal achievement.
In the story, the common flower seller Eliza Dolittle has a chance encounter with Henry Higgins, a professor of speech, and Higgins jokes that he could pass her off as a lady within 6 months.
(goal achievement note - belief in ability)

The next day out of the blue, Eliza presents herself unannounced at Higgins' house, having overheard his address the previous night, and tells him that she is there for the lessons she had mentioned.
(goal achievement note - taking action with no guarantee of success)

Despite initially rejecting the idea out of hand, Higgins considers it, and decides it would be a fun experiment for himself.
(goal achievement note - Eliza's action getting a result that would never had occurred otherwise).

Hours after hours, days after days of work seem to produce no progress whatsoever.
(goal achievement note - progress may seem slow, but persistence is the key)

Just as they are about to give up, Eliza speaks a sentence in perfectly pronounced English.
(goal achievement note - the subconscious takes time, but will always soak up what you tell it.)

They try the new Eliza out at Ascot races, but despite a good accent, her manners let her down, culminating in her yelling at a horse to 'move your bloomin' arse!'
(goal achievement note - at some point, your progress must be tested in a real environment.)

Six intensive weeks later, Eliza passes herself off flawlessly at a high society ball.
(goal achievement note - you can do exactly what you aim to do!)

Eliza and Higgins realise they have formed a close bond with each other.
(setting out towards one goal can lead to all sorts of surprises).

I hope you can see why, as an author of a book about goal achievement, that My Fair Lady is the kind of film I love to watch over and over, it's a perfect example of how to achieve goals and improve yourself.
(Plus of course, it has the bonus of Audrey Hepburn!)

Ok, that's it for this week, how can you relate 'Move Your Bloomin Arse!' to your life?

I'll see you next week for Issue 400.
Regular readers will know you are in for a treat, and newer readers, er, well you're in for the same treat!

'Til Next Time,
Health and Happiness,
Gordon

Issue 398 - On The 9th Day Of Christmas

Hi,
I hope this Tuesday finds you well.

It's the first Tuesday in 2007, so Happy New Year to you and yours.
I guess everyone and his dog are writing about New Year Resolutions at this time of year.
As a result, my contrary nature kicks in, and I get the urge *not* talk about it, but since this newsletter has always focused on self improvement, goal achievement and wealth creation, it would be a bit remiss if I didn't.
We'll see how it goes...

By the way, the sharp witted reader, (and of course by that I mean you!) will note that I don't normally send a Tuesday newsletter.
Well I took the Christmas holiday off, and had a bucket load of ideas come to me.
I couldn't be arsed to wait another week, so I thought I'd write today.

My ideas for titles include -

'Move Your Bloomin' Arse!'
'Ponder the Percentage Postulation'.
'Article Writing IS Rocket Science After All!'
'Traffic Generation Can be Fun!'
'On The 9th Day Of Christmas!'

So all of that is to come, plus Issue 400 is only 2 weeks away, and I have something lined up for that.
Ok, let's crack on with today's waffle, called 'On The 9th Day Of Christmas'...

According to THAT song, on the 9th day of Christmas, my true love gave to me, 9 ladies dancing.
Not forgettting the 8 maids a milking, 7 swans a-swimming, 6 geese a-laying, 5 gold rings, 4 calling birds, 3 french hens, 2 turtle doves and a partridge in a pear tree.

In fact, the correct lyric is that on the 9th day of Christmas, my true love gave to me, a note saying 'Right, that's it! Christmas over, everything back to normal!'

It gets me every year.
As much as seeing Christmas fare in the shops in sodding September, by now you won't see any sign of Christmas in the shops.
In such a commercialised world, how is it that the last fews days of Christams are completely ignored, as if they don't exist?
For the shops to create a 3 month hype to Christmas, and then cut it short just seems ludicrous to me.

Can anybody please point out if I'm missing something here!
In fact on Sunday, New Year's Eve, I was in a shop and saw a big display of Easter Eggs.
I can tell you, I was THIS close to kicking the whole thing down, but I was stopped by the thought of some poor little 16 year old who didn't go to school every day, and was turned down by McDonald's, who had to create the display, and would no doubt have to rebuild it on New Year's Day if I booted it down.

Hmm, I can feel another letter to Tesco's coming on...

Ok, that's just about it to start the year, so here's a quickie about New Year Resolutions.

If you're going to make New Year Resolutions with your tongue in cheek, aiming fully to fail with them, please don't.
It's what most people do, and although it is food for a quick laugh, it is actually a slap in the face of one of the most simple and effective ways of creating the life you always wanted.

We follow the same goal achievement formula every day many many times, it's just that most of us don't realise it.
I don't have to tell you it's huge passion of mine to get people to flick the switch in their brain, to fully realise what they can do with their lives, and I don't like to see people acknowledge the method and then poo-poo it in the same breath.

Let me know what you think.

I wrote my book, 'Transform Your Life in 21 Days!' back in 2003.
It was a gathering of all the theories and ideas I have used in my time to achieve things I look back on with great pride.
Actually the book itself is one of them, because as I read in now in 2007, I consider it as valid today as it was in 2003 - no update required!

I'm giving it a push this year, so if you fancy taking a peek to see what I keep wittering on about, go to:
http://www.transformyourlifenow.com

Ok, that's it for this week - don't tell me your New Year Resolutions, but DO tell me what your plans are for this year, I may be able to help you more than you know...

Health and Happiness,
Gordon

Issue 397 - Are Those Melons Down Your Top?

Hi,
I hope everything is ok where you are.
Last issue of the year, and whereas last week I talked about motivation, this week I want to touch on goal achievement.

As I type this a chap called Christer Fuglesang is in space, aboard the Discovery shuttle docked to the International Space Station.
He's in a crew of 7, and one of 5 who is on their first trip to space, so why single him out?

Because he's Swedish, that's why.

Zap back in time several decades and imagine the hoo-ha over the first man in space (Russian), the first man on the moon (American) and so on.

Fuglesang is the first Swede in space.
Sweden is a small European country, with a population of 9 million.
Compare that to the US, which has recently crept over *300* million.
Fuglesang has been waiting 14 years to get into space - now that needs motivation for sure!

In press conferences he has been saying how much he enjoys it.
Let's face it, after 14 years, he's not likely to say 'it's crap' is he, but what a superb reward for all that effort.
However many Swedes follow him into space, he will always be the first, so a big fat well done to him.

The European curling championships finished this weekend.
Whereas the game in Scotland is in good shape, in fact the men are current World Champions, in England it is still struggling to get a foothold.
As you know I am really into it, having discovered the one and only rink in England last season, about 45 mins drive.
I checked out how someone gets to the Europeans, Worlds and Olympics, and it goes something like this...

The top 8 finishers at the Europeans get into the Worlds, and the Olympic qualification depends on results at the Worlds.
The European Champs are split into A & B divisions, with the top 2 in the B division getting promoted.
Also, the winner of the B gets to challenge the 8th place in the A for a place at the Worlds.

Following along?

The English men and women are in the B division, and the women came 3rd, just missing out on promotion.
In order to get to the Europeans in the first place, you have to win the English National Champs.
They are held in January at my local rink.
I'm not sure about the men, but in the women, it was uncontested last year - there was only one team!
This year, a team from my club wants to put together a challenge, but get this, the team of 4 consists of 3 Scots and a Canadian!

If you've lived here in England for 2 years you quaify to play for England.
Pish posh in my book!

Don't get me wrong, I've nothing against the Scottish or the Canadians, but come on!
If you asked any of the 4 if they were English, they would say 'no', so how can they call themselves an English team?
They can because the rules allow it of course, so good luck to them, but it shows the game in England struggles to get 4 women together as a team!
I wonder if I wore a wig and shoved a couple of potatoes down my jumper, maybe I could sneak in?

Hmm, maybe pears instead of potatoes.
Hmm, maybe pomegranates instead of pears.
Hmm, maybe melons instead of pomegranates.
I can often be heard remarking that you can't beat a good melon or two.

Next year I aim to be in a team at the English mens, that's all I can say.

Ok, that's it for this week, and for this year as well.
I've hope you've enjoyed reading my wafflings in 2006, I'm nudging Issue 400, so look forward to having you along for the ride in 2007.

If you celebrate Christmas, have a good one, if you don't, have a good couple of weeks, and I'll see you on the other side, (Christmas Schmistmas)

Issue 396 - A Right Kick In The Peculiars

Hi,
I hope Monday finds you well.

It's a motivation issue this week.
I found out at the end of last week that I hadn't got into the London Marathon.

I knew the chances of me getting in were fairly small, so I made plans about what to do if I didn't, basically doing my own marathon on the local streets at the same time on the same date.
I was surprised to find that in fact my motivation took a huge blow.

It was like a kick in the you-know-wheres.
A kick in the never-you-minds.
A kick in the ne'er-do-wells.
Do you get the picture?

In fact, get your imagination working on this one.
I want you to imagine you and me, standing facing each other, like 2 cowboys ready for a duel.
Legs akimbo, arms by our side.

Now I want you to change your image to a construction worker.
We're getting into Village People territiry here, but stick with me on it...

So, you are a construction worker, in a hard hat, overalls, and steel toe-capped boots.
I'm in a cowboy outfit, and there's plenty of sequins around (Village People).

Ok, now imagine you run towards me, as fast as you can, take a full swing with your leg, and your steel toe-capped foot lands smack in the middle of my peculiars.
Now *that's* how my motivation feels!

At the moment it feels lke the only reason to carry on training for another 4 months is just because I said I would.
One feature of long distance running which may sound obvious, bur doesn't really hit home until you do it, is that after a certain distance, it hurts to carry on!
You have to push yourself past the point at which your body is saying 'enough'.

What I'm going to do is take a few days off training, and use one of my goal achievement tricks.
It's a good one, has worked for me many times, and I'm sure will work again, and it's this...

When you go through a bad patch, or hit an obstacle, do *not* take negative action.
What I mean by that is to not take any backward decisions during this period.
Knocks are inevitable when trying to achieve something and motivation will ebb and flow.
When motivation is high, put things in action which will bear long term fruit.
When motivation is low, it can be easy to put things in action which you may regret when your motivation returns.

Is it possible that your motivation doesn't return?
Yes, and that's an indication that you didn't have the desire you thought you had for the goal.
That's not necessarily a bad thing, at least you won't look back and wonder what if.

If you desire the goal enough, your motivation will return, probably more than before, and when it does, you'll be glad you took no negative decision when motivation waned.

Ok, that's it for this week, remember my trick for any lulls you get in motivation.

Have a good week.

Issue 395 - Say What You Mean, Mean What You Say

Hi,
I hope everything is ok where you are.

So we've lurched into December, and as I walk around the shops I can now grudgingly accept the shops being full of Chrstmas stuff.

Regular readers will know that I get driven to distraction when the Christmas products start appearing in mid-September.
In my view it implies that the last 3 months of the year are not worth anything, they are little more than waiting months until Christmas, which is complete baloney maloney.
I can understand the market forces behind it - if shop A stocks Christmas stuff, then shop B has to, or they will be losing custom.

Last year, I bought some Christmas fruit cake slices which had a best before date of mid November!
This year I decided to ask the shop about it, (not that I held a bitter and twisted 12 month grudge of course!)
At the end of September I took a deep breath and ventured into the Christmas aisle, and sure enough, individual Christmas fruit cake slices, best before date of November 11th.
I had to smile, and since they were buy one get one free, my smile was that bit larger as I shoveled a couple of boxes into my wonky-wheeled trolley.

After the 11th Nov had passed, I went to Tesco's website, where rather bizarrely there isn't an email contact to be seen!
I decided to write snail mail, asking for an explanation as to how Christmas cakes could have a best before date of 11th Nov, meaning you either had to eat them 6 weeks before Christmas, or eat them at Christmas 6 weeks out of date.
I still havn't had a reply, and let's be honest, my letter is still probably flying around the Tesco's internal email system, or has been filed in the 'nutcase' draw.

So I decided to ring them up.
I got a stonewall answer, the chap kept saying that they were definitely Christmas cakes, but obviously still had a best before date.
I realised fairly early on in the conversation that -

a) He wasn't going to grasp the 'Christmas not being 11th November' concept
b) Tesco's were not about to send me a year's supply of fruit cake, which had been my main goal all along.

Now, don't get me wrong, I like Tesco, remember earlier this year when I lost my keys on an early marathon training session, it was Tesco's that found my address from my keyfob and sent them back to me, but in this case they have got it wrong.

To me it doesn't make any difference, I can see the funny side, but I can well imagine some old duffer who bought their cake slices nice and early, only to find them tasting a bit peculiar come Christmas.

It brings up one of my favourite life sayings, and it's this -
'Say what you mean, and mean what you say.'

I'm a big fan of acting with integrity, and if you follow the 'say what you mean' mantra, you won't go far wrong.
There is nothing better than having friends and colleagues, dare I say it loved ones, know that when you say something, you mean it.
It makes you a rock that can be relied on, and also means that whenever you need help, people will be all the more willing to give it.

Ok, that's it for today, if you got your Christmas goodies early, get the cupboard open and check those best before dates!

Have a good week.

Issue 394 - Big Girls Playing Rugby

Hi,
I hope all is well where you are, and that if you celebrate it, your Thanksgiving is/was good.
I've been giving thanks that I have stopped being sick.

I was out running on Thursday when I suddenly had a feeling in my stomach which didn't feel quite right.
'Hello,' I thought, 'that doesn't feel quite right.'

I ploughed on, and felt like I had recovered, but as the day wore on I felt worse and worse.
Going to bed early didn't help, and it wasn't long before the first technicolour yawn.
In fact, technicolour yawn doesn't quite do it, it was more of technicolour speech.
In fact, more of a technicolour lecture.
In fact, more of a technicolour seminar, are you with me?

I'm still feeling a bit fragile today, but I won't complain, lest I come across as a big girl's blouse.

Speaking of big girls, there was a petty incident over the weekend, and I suspect it was a case of men acting like big girls.

New Zealand were playing rugby against Wales.
It's a fixture with a long tradition, and an equally long tradition is the haka, the tribal chant which New Zealand teams perform before games.

On Saturday though it was nowhere to be seen.
The anticipation of the crowd was there, but the players just lined up in their normal playing positions and the game started.

It turns out that the haka was not performed because of an argument about protocol, i.e. who would go last in the preliminaries.

Hmm...
I must do some investigating to find out more about it, but why do I get the feeling that it was men having little power play arguments with each other?

It's easy to let the petty seem more significant than it really is, but as in this case, it can overwhelm and ruin something which is bigger and should have taken preference.
The sporting spectacle of the haka should not have been lost to petty arguments, but it was.

Ok, it's a quickie this week, but the point is a good'un - don't lose sight of what's really important amidst the petty.

Have a good week.'

Issue 393 - Blistered To Buggery

Hi,
I hope Monday finds you well.

I think I'll call this week's issue 'Blistered to Buggery'.
I'm sure the good old filters may not like it, but let's face it, 'Blistered Quite A Bit' doesn't quite have the same ring to it does it!!

There's a little tip in itself about article titles.
If you're not using articles to generate free targeted traffic, firstly I ask you why not, and secondly I would suggest you use titles which use the most descriptive words you can , and if they start with the same letter, even better!

Members of my Grab A Grand Club can have me go through any article they write, and I'll come up with titles for your article all day long if you want!

Ok, so where was I.. oh yes, blistered to buggery...
Both my hands and feet are suffering on the blister front at the moment.
Although getting hand blisters from drumming is not unusual. I seem, to have them badly at the moment, some real whoppers.
If you imagine typing with a water balloon stuck to your thumb, you won't be far away from where I am!

In my marathon training I havn't had real foot blisters so far, but as with my hands I noticed a worsening this week.

I wondered what was causing it, and lay awake for, oooh it must have been several minutes pondering.
Then the penny dropped... it's the curling!

All that friction of broom against hand when you sweep has pushed my fingers over the edge, and my questions about why some curlers wear special gloves is being answered!
Also, when you sweep, you tend to hop and shuffle along the ice, your concentration is centred on where you put the broom, not your feet.

At the weekend I was sitting in on drums for Shameful Behaviour, and the drumming has intensified the friction on my hands, the running has intensified the blisters on my feet, and with all the extra puss I must have put on a few pounds in weight!

Of course I could stop doing one or all three of those activities, and the blisters would be better.

I won't though.
I enjoy doing all three, they are vital to my rest and recuperation.
If I stopped just because of a bit of blistering, my quality of life would suffer.

Not hugely, but nevertheless, if you start cutting out your pleasures in life, you can find yourself on a slippery slope towards hermitude.
Hmm, hermitude, does that work - being a hermit, hermitude?
Good word anyway.

Right then, that's it for today, what niggles do you put up with for your vital r & r?
Have a good week.'

Issue 392 - Do You Know How To Skweeze Me?

Hi,
I hope everything is well where you are.

So, why am I calling today's issue 'Blah blah Skweeze me?'
Well, I had a busy day yesterday.

I went to a curling event, called a 'bonspiel', where people come for 3 days from anywhere in the world to play curling and socialise. It's a real community feel, but as a newbie I still have to work hard to get to know people.

One chap lost his footing and fell on top of a stone.
'Ooh, that's gotta hurt' was the general opinion, and since he had landed with his back right on top of 42 lbs of granite with a big handle on top, it did hurt, and he cracked a couple of ribs.

Apart from that, it's a nice peaceful game, played with smiling faces and fierce etiquettes.
I suspect my skill level may never get much higher than 'poor', but not everything has to lead to an end product, this is an end product in itself, enjoyment and recreation - vital parts of life improvement!

When I got home I opened my emails, and found I had been asked to step in on drums for a band next week.
It's a full make up band, and I will be getting out my sequinnned jacket for sure, and more fun will be had I'm sure.

The band, Shameful Behaviour, has an unashamed Kiss influence, and Kiss themselves were influence by the likes of the British glam rockers Slade.
One of Slade's hits was called 'Skweeze Me Pleeze Me.'

Another of the emails I got was about video squeeze pages.
A squeeze page is where you simply get the visitor to sign up to an email list.
The ease of putting videos online has led to many marketers employing the video squeeze page, as it has better conversion rates.
This particular video squeeze page offer was for $50 a month!

Hmm, interesting...

I still only charge $49 a month for my Grab A Grand Club, and something I will be covering this wek, is putting video on your site.
I'll be handing over the software I recently got.
I'm sure it does the same thing, and of course members get tutorials from my 4+ years of absorbing info on how to market online, plus specific help if you want it.
You can see it at:
http://www.thegrabagrandclub.com

Ok, that's it for today, remember to include enjoyment and recreation into your schedule, it's a necessity not a luxury, and I'll close by asking again 'Do You Know How To Skweeze Me?'

Have a good week.

Issue 391 - The Insignificant Fingernail

Hi,
I hope Monday finds you well.

In my book 'Transform Your Life in 21 Days!' I wrote about perspective.
I had some great prompts over the weekend, so I want to mention the subject again today.

In the paper over the weekend, there was a surprisingly uplifting double page spread.
Newspapers as a rule tend to focus on the bad things, but this was a double page of photos showing some gorgeous bronw orange and gold autumnul scenes around Britain, aiming to remind us that those of us living here live in a beautiful country.

That put a little smile on my face.

Later in the same paper there was a picture from the Cassini spacecraft which is currently clicking away at Saturn.
Through the famous rings, you could see a little white blob, and the little white blob is us lot.
Earth.

Pictures like that always remind me that we are of tiny significance in the universal scheme of things, (and that's assuming there's only the one universe, but don't get me started on that!)
Although when I break a finger nail it feels significant, and my yelling of 'Bugger me I've broken a fingernail! is loud enough. it really isn't significant, and life becomes a lot less stressful when you simply put small petty incidents in their rightful place.

Also over the weekend, a great natural history programme began a new series on TV.
The BBC has always been good at this sort of thing, and on eword springs to mind to describe the Planet Earth programme - spectacular.
It really is awe inspiring to see the environments and some of the creatures living in them.

A polar bear swimming 100km to find food, getting ever more desperate as his only hope of food is a walrus he cannot kill.
Penguins waddling 100 miles to breed, and the male penguins huddling together in a huge scrum to keep warm, while the females do the 200 mile round trip to bring food. It's stunning.

What I like is that at the end of each show they have a segment showing how the camera crews managed to get such amazing shots.
This week for instance, the ice worlds of the arctic and antarctic were featured, and we saw crews living in that icy world for a whole year!
Just to get us some nice shots to watch with a cup of tea (and a biscuit).

Of course these crews are following their passion without a doubt, which is a another key to a happy life, but this issue is about perspective, so I'll sign off by suggesting you soak in the visual treats of autumn.
Remember that was all carrying on before we came, and will be carrying on after we've gone, so get that broken nail into perspective!

Have a good week.'

Issue 390 - Can Bumble Bees Fly?

Hi,
I hope everything is ok where you are.

I saw a great quote the other day at the TotalLifeSuccess.com forum.
It goes like this...

The bumble bee is aerodynamically incapable of flight, but because no-one told it, it persists in flying anyway.

What a great thought, think of the motivational follow ons - don't let anyone tell you what you can or cannot do, keep going to overcome the odds, etc, etc.
It's the kind of thing you expect to see on a poster.

There's just one problem...

It's not true.
It's complete baloney.
In fact, it might even be a non sequitur, if I was 100% sure what non sequitur meant. (Good word though)

So let's investigate this story.
Apart from the obvious fact that bumble bees clearly *can* fly, where did the story originate?

I did some research, and the story is easy to find on the web, there have been books and poems using it for a title.

Blimey, I knew my upbringing was sheltered, but as I turn 40 I still discover just how sheltered it must have been, I had never heard the story before.

Anyhoo, the most common story is that in the 1930s an aerodynamisist and a biologist were having the discussion, and the aerodynamisist did a quick calculation on his knapkin, and came to the conclusion that the wings were too small to prived the required lift for the body weight.

The story then took hold, and despite the clear falsehood of the story, it entered the world of the urban myth.

The calculation was wrong because it was based on aircraft with a smooth fixed wing.

Insects actually create upward thrust by forcing the air downwards when they flap, which causes an updraft into the space vacated by the wing - apparently!

So, it's a mutli-tiered affair, this story.
First you get the original story, which is great for a motivational goal achievement twist, and then you get another important point which is that you shouldn't trust everything just because someone says so.

There is a difference in science between theory and practice, and it's the same in life - people may come up with theories, but nothing beats getting out and doing it yourself!

Ok, that's it for this week, I'm off to see if I can work the story into my Rock & Roll Town song, and remember next time you see a bumble bee fly, to remind yourself that they can't/can/can't!

Have a good week.

Issue 389 - A Firmer Buttock?

Hi,
I hope Monday finds you well.

I had 2 strokes of luck last week.
Firstly, the head gasket went on my car, which considering the state of my car, was a terminal issue.

Doesn't sound so lucky does it?

The luck was that I got a clue about it just as I turned the corner to get back home.
I have been doing many long mileage journeys to jams, and just this week the new curling season started, which means a long journey down narrow pitch black country lanes.
Had the car given up on me then, I would have been unamused to say the least, so although having to get another car is a pain in the derriere, the circumstances were lucky.

Speaking of a pain in the derriere, and the start of curling, blimey it's a good workout!
I'd forgotten how strenuous it can be, and it provides a good alternative to compliment my marathon training - I'm just hoping that a firmer buttock is helpful for a marathon...

Also, it's only firmer on one side, so will that give me a limp?
Maybe I could wear fancy dress as an upside-down Quasimodo.

Here's the 2nd piece of luck...
In the off season we had been asked to send in our playing intentions for the season as they were starting various leagues.
I duly sent mine back in, only to notice that when the fixtures came out, my name was nowhere to be seen.
I asked why not, and it seems that my intentions form had not been passed on.

I wasn't happy, and had to work quite hard to resist the strong temptation to throw the toys out of my pram and sulk, telling them to shove their curling where the sun doesn't shine.
Resist it I did though, and when I went this week for a non-league session, they asked me if I had dates available as one of the team members had dropped out leaving a space for me.

I duly accepted, and made a mental note to pass on that little story.
It's often said that luck is when opportunity meets preparation.
Well, had my preparation been a sulk and a strop, the opportunoty would have meant nothing when it came, but good preparation on my part had allowed me to enjoy the 'luck'.

I've been working hard on my Grab A Grand Club.
Remember that the idea is for me to pass on the knowledge I have learnt about internet marketing, and also give you specific hands on help with any of it that you may get stuck on.
The more work I've been doing on it, the more I have realised that the $19 a month launch price is ludicrously low.

There are only so many hours in the day, and since I offer the hands on help, it's actually a bad way for me to leverage my time.
As such, instead of raising the price to $27 a month on Nov 1st, I'm raising it to $47.

That means you still have a week to take up the launch price of $19 a month, which is a locked in price once you join.

There is no commitment, you can stop whenever you want.
If you've ever been stopped from internet marketing because you think you don't know how to make a website, or set up an autoresponder, or research a market, or create a product, or write articles, etc, etc, etc, I will give you specific help on any/all of it.

Go and take a look at the site, which also has a 50% paying affiliate programme:
http://www.thegrabagrandclub.com

Ok, that's it for this week, remember to prepare properly for the 'lucky' opportunities that may be around the corner...

Have a good week.

Issue 388 - More Speed Less Haste

Hi,
I hope everything is well where you are.

I had an interesting week with my marathon training.
For my long run last week, 9 miles, I didn't feel quite on top if it right from the beginning.
My thighs felt heavy for some reason, and despite imagining it would feel better as I got into the run, I just didn't seem to get into it.

There were many times when I thought 'Ohh I could just stop', but I gave myself a stern talking to, and decided to get to the end, no matter what the time, as I could tell my lethargy wasn't an injury type strain.
In the end I did 6 minutes outside my schedule.

I had a think about what the cause might have been , but just put it down to an off day.
'Off days' occur to us all in whatever line, and it's important not to give them more importance than they deserve!

During the week I thought I would try something different in my 3 mile sessions.
For the first one, I put short sprints in.
I guess they must have been about 200 metres at a time.
It felt good to be flying, er ok, make that trundling along at full pelt.
At the end of 3 miles though, my overall time was only slightly faster, but had needed a huge increase in effort...

Hmm, my quest for an easy life kicked in, and it occured to me that if a huge increase in effort results in only a small time benefit, then logically I could make a noticable reduction in effort, and the time loss would only be small!

So for the 2nd 3 mile session I deliberately went slower in the running stints than I ever had before, lower leg lift, shorter stride.
Sure enough, I felt better for it, and only lost a small amount of time.

Ah Ha!

So for yesterday's 10 miler, I decided I would stick to this plan rigidly, and see what happened.
My target time was 2 hours dead, and when I go to the end, my time was 1 hour 58!

More haste, less speed as my mother would say.
Hang on, was it more speed less haste?

Anyway you get the idea, the goal can often be achieved quicker by going at a more sensible sustainable pace.

Regarding my marathon, all this effort I'm putting in is for one event 6 months away, and since it's now 6 months to the race this week, Apr 22nd 2007, I'm relaunching the sponsorship site.

There are 2 main points to note.
The first is that 100% of your donation goes to charity.
I'm not seeking to make a penny profit from it.

The second thing, is that you get to choose the charity!
When I previously chose MIND, the UK mental health charity, people told me they didn't know enough about the charity.
So here's the thing, if I asked you what your favourite charity was, what would you say?
It could be a domestic charity for you country, or a local charity for your town.
It could be an international charity.
It could to do with animals, children, mentally ill, homeless, etc, etc.
It doesn't matter what it is, as long as it's an officially registered charity, it'll do!

Then just decided how much you would sponsor me for my marathon, to go towards that charity - then you just hit the donate button!

If you run a newsletter or support a particular charity, get your readers to sponsor me, and tell them to pick the charity you are helping!

Hopefully you can see the appeal - you get to support me in my marathon to mark turning 40, plus support your favourtite charity at the same time.

If you can't decide on a charity, or aren't bothered, then say so, and it will go to my personal choice, MIND.

Go and look at the site, you can download my free book!
http://www.thegreatgordinomarathon.com

Ok, that's it for today, could you do with more speed, less haste (possibly less speed, more haste)
Have a good week.

'Til Next Time,
Health and Happiness,

Issue 387 - Would A Grand A Month Help You?

Hi,
I hope Monday finds you well.

It's time to tell you about another new product of mine.

The other day I got an email offering me a no cost report on how to make $1000 in 15 days online.
I downloaded it out of curiousity, and found it to contain bland unspecific advice which helped neither the newbie or the experienced.
Disappointing.

Then I got an offer offering me a 'clone' of a membership site which had 5000 members at $29 a month.
Again I looked (it's always an education to look at how these offers are presented).
It was presented well, but at the price of $4000 I didn't stay for long, not with my tight arse.

Also in the last couple of weeks I had people at jam nights asking me exactly what I did.
I normally say I have a 'couple of online businesses', but they wanted to know more details.

So, I decided to offer a membership club, where I would spill the beans on all I have learnt in the past 4 + years about how to market online.
I've spent a lot of dollars buying information, and although it would be naughty, (er, illegal) for me to give you these books, I am perfectly allowed to relay the information in them!

Take for example 2 products released this year - Tag & Ping by Sean Wu, and Adsense Videos by Michael Cheney.
Combined they have a price of $244, and that's what I paid.

I will pass on the info inside them to members of my club, along with everything else.

How much?
$19 a month.
That means you could be a member for a full year and still not have paid as much as buying just those 2 products, along with all the other content, which is listed on my site.

I decided to call it The Great Gordino's Grab A Grand Club, and here's why -
The idea is that if I can teach you, and give you hands on help to get to earning $1000 a month online, you will have the tools and knowledge to repeat the process.

I originally decided to set a launch date of Nov 1st.
However, I noticed another product launching, callled Affiliate Project X, and having bought it at $77, I decided to bring my launch forward, because the info in Project X will be included in the club, as it's now info in my head!

I spent many hours rushing to get it all done earlier than planned, and had many nights working through the small hours.
That's one of the joys of working for myself, from home, I can just choose to do it.

When I say I give hands on help, that's just what I mean - if you have problems with any part of the process, ask me, and I'll guide you through it, it's included in the cost.

What's more the club has an affiiate programme paying 50%, meaning if you sell a membership, you get 50% of that fee every month they remain a member!

That price of $19 is way too low, I'm really starting with that to give readers and buddies the early start, but after 50 members are in, or the 1st Nov, whichever is earlier, the price will go up to $27.

Go and have a look, note all the knowledge I will be passing on that I have paid for, tell me what you think.
Ask any questions!
I'll be interested to hear what have to say!

Here's the link:

Ok, that's it for today, what would an extra grand a month do for you?

Have a good week.

Issue 386 - Mon 2nd Oct 2006

Hi,
I hope everything is well where you are.

As we lurch into October, it's time to address the urgent issue of the day - have you written your letter to Santa yet?

October is the signal for swathes of high street retail space to be taken over with Christmas stuff, so quick - hurry!
Christmas must be only just around the corner!

It's 3 sodding months away!
That's a full quarter of the year!

Don't let this marketing ploy lull you into thinking that the next 3 months are simply a waiting period up to Christmas.
You can achieve a bucket load in that time - life changing things if you want!
Let's leave Christmas 'til December at least!

I did a nice 8 miles training yesterday in 1 hour 36, right in line with my 12 min mile pace.
I have no tweaks or twangs to report, and with my new shoes and extra grass running, I feel back in full flow for my training.

You may remember a few weeks ago I wrote about how the prisons here in Britain were close to being full up.
If you don't remember (shame on you), it was Issue 378, you can see it in the archive.

Anyhoo, that state of full prisons may happen this week.
There are around 320 places left, with 370 being jailed last week.
When they do get full, prisoners then have to be put in the cells at police stations, which costs £360 per prisoner per night!
That's a lot of moolah!

The last time this happened was in 2002, and the final bill was around £10.5 million.
This government had been power for 5 years by then, but hey, it's good to see they have the sorted the problem in the 4 years since!

This bit might make you giggle, it's one of the government's suggested solutions to the overcrowding of prisons - make some offences liable for an on the spot fine.
Hmm, ok, maybe less court time, and less jailing, but also less criminal records for the, er, criminals.
And what are 3 of these suggested offences?
Mugging, assault, and assaulting a police officer!.

I think I may take up a new career, here's the scenario...
I mug you, and pinch your mobile phone.
I get caught, and am given an on the spot fine of £100, and no criminal record.
I pay the £100 out of the £150 I sold your phone for.
You have no other recourse against me available, so vent your frustration by smacking me around the head.
I report you ( believe me, as a criminal I want the full protection of the law when it's my turn!)
You then get an on the spot fine of £100.
Net result - the government is £200 better off.
You are £100 plus your phone out of pocket.
I am £50 to the good, and free to carry on mugging with no more than a minor bruise on my head.

When this kind of thing was pointed out to the government, they did a usual about turn, saying it was drafted by a junior official.
That's not a jibe at this particular government, the other lot would probably be just as bad.
It's one of the reasons I stood in the election last year.

Truly, our trip to hell in a handbasket is gathering pace...

I must leave on a positive note, and it's this, if I get my Christmas chocolates in now, I may get a discount!

Hmm, that's brought back a memory from last year - individual slices of Christmas cake, ideal for a singleton like me, but with a 'best before' date of mid-November!
If I see that again this year, I'm a-writing to Mr. Tesco just to see what happens!

Have a good week.
